Subject: one of my all-time favorites... (first review)
i do not actually know why, but this is the first review i've written for the archive. but the fact that i have downloaded literally 100+ shows and yet this is the first one i choose to review must mean something.
this band is magical. although very unaccessible at times, once you "get it", you truly do GET IT. there is something about this music that is so much, dare i say, 'cooler' than most others. and this show is by far one of my greatest finds from the archive. i downloaded another shorter show by the mermen and decided i liked it enough to get a longer one. i originally got this one because it had a great set list and a long 20 min jam. "cool" i thought, "that should be a nice little instrumental." but i warn you, listen with caution: "the pull of the moon" most definitely contains some of the most far-out and intense jamming i have ever heard. (and p.s. i listen to ALL the jammers too, SCI, moe. bisco, umphrey's mcgee, sts9, the dead, keller, frame of mind, ekoostik hookah, etc.) but the rest of the show is also filled with extremely intense, as well as beautifully melodic pieces. if you can handle A FEW full listens then you will most likely love it, but mind you, it almost surely won't completely "click" with you on first listen.
simply astounding music nonetheless.

This is a show worthy of the cow palace.
The incredibly psychedelic 5 munute wall of sound followed by the drum solo is mind melting.
